This was a good show
This was a good show by the standards of mid-1950s syndicated shows, and it still holds up today. The cast do a very good job, and the production values are quite decent.

Another Excellent Sherlock Holmes Case
This television series maintains high standards in presenting cases with Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. Very entertaining and well worth watching.

Classic TV - A must for Holmes Fans
this site introduced me to Ronald Howard as Sherlock Holmes and I shall be for ever grateful. After watching the eight episodes available here, I treated myself to all 37 episodes made on a DVD collection!!
The TV series was never shown in the UK until a few years ago when a satellite channel called Bonanza continually repeated 8 episodes on a daily basis before going bust, They have recently reappeared as the Young@heart channel, repeating the same 8 episodes.
Howard is excellent as Holmes and his Dr Watson is almost as funny as Nigel Bruce was with Basil Rathbone. Archie Duncan (Little John from the 50s British Robin Hood TV series) plays a brilliant, if somewhat grumpy, Inspector Lestrade. The story lines are a little stilted and very dated but all in all, these shows are television history at its best.
Five Stars!!!!!
